Today, I’m thankful for this beautiful house. When I think about it, Allahu Akbar… what did I ever do to land here? Allah is truly great, and He knows best. He knows what we do not know, what we can’t even imagine. Allahu Akbar.
Two things.
First, I’m reminded of the Talking Heads song Once in a Lifetime, the line “You may find yourself in a beautiful house, with a beautiful wife. And you may ask yourself, ‘well, how did I get here?'”
Indeed.
And second, this is the first shot I’m sharing from the new-to-me, fifty year old Yashica Mat-124. It’s a beautiful camera, MashaAllah, and I need much more practice with it.
Lessons learned on this roll: it doesn’t handle backlit scenes very well; focus at f/3.5 is difficult; focus is critical, and my eyes aren’t that good; Porta 160 isn’t very easy to color balance.
I need more practice.
