Today marks the beginning of a new year, a time of new beginnings, to make plans and set goals for the coming 364 days, to wonder what the next months will bring, and perhaps reflect on the past year, missteps, missed opportunities, and mistakes, and resolve to be better.
As you’re thinking about all that, take a small moment to reflect on the passage of time, the natural cycles of day and night, lunar cycles, seasons. This day, like all others, brings us one day closer to the day when we’ll stand before our Creator. Today, give thanks to Him for allowing you one day more to strive, to worship, remember, and reflect on Allah. As He told us,
إِنَّ فِي خَلْقِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاخْتِلَافِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ لَآيَاتٍ لِّأُولِي الْأَلْبَابِ
Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for those of understanding.
The journey continues, and may He make it easier for us all, ameen.
