If you ever find yourself heading south on I49 and have an hour to burn, or want to take a dynamite drive, take Exit 53 and follow 170 to Devil’s Den State Park. In the middle of the park, 170 will become 74, and turn into a rollercoaster that even the most road-hugging hot rod will have to slow down for, with multiple opportunities to pull off and go for a walk or a hike, and then emerge and rejoin 49 at exit 45. I’ve only done it once, but everytime I fly by on the way home from Mom’s, I swerve a little bit, think about it, hem and haw, and decide I’d rather get home to my darling, adorable wife an hour or so earlier, and skip it, and may Allah guide me to slow down and really appreciate His creation, ameen.
