As promised, here are some selfies, shot with the Lomo LC-A on LomoChrome Metropolis. I took these during Ramadan 2020, late April to late May.
There’s not much else to say, really, so let’s get to it!
Ramadan in the time of Covid was… different. Gone were the late-night iftar parties and tarawih prayers, but I never got too much into those anyway. The biggest changes was I spent more time sitting at my work desk in the guest room closet. I mean, I sit there all day 5 days a week (or more) anyway, but outside of Ramadan I go into the kitchen sometimes for water, or just to say hello to my wife. But I just sat there working for all of Ramadan. It made for some fun…
But given that it’s work, well, that’s to be expected.
Good news: the Irving, TX public library system reopened partially, drive through only, so I got to return some books and pick up some new ones. Woo!
So here I am waiting in line at the library…
I’m still not convinced that I got the color right. I think I’m close, but my highlights are still a bit pink and midtones a bit blue, I think. Oh well.
And then Ramadan was over, and so was this first roll of Metropolis.
Overall, it was a good time, really.
Now, I’ve read some reviews that suggest Metropolis isn’t very good with skin tones… Well, I only took selfies with it, so I can’t comment on much, but it did ok with my pasty whiteness. I probably wouldn’t use it for glamour shots or to advertise makeup, but it should be fine for fashion work, bands, skateboarding, anything where a contrasty, slightly desaturated look works, though I should probably run some tests against my darling, adorable wife’s gorgeous caramel skin before I say much more. After all, we’re not measuring accurate color against Shirley cards any more.
So. LomoChrome Metropolis. I like it, and I look forward to shooting some more!
