Gossagesque seeing, maybe

I received the Gossage and Cole books about a week before Hana and I left on vacation, and I spent a good part of that trip trying to see like they would see, maybe, though I’m not at all sure I really “get” their way of seeing at all.

This is my most successful attempt.

Anyone out there that understand’s Gossage’s work, his project, his… seeing: how did I do?

Rohingya Solidarity Rally

As reported by Nu’man bin Bashir, the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said

The believers in their mutual kindness, compassion and sympathy are just like one body. When one of the limbs suffers, the whole body responds to it with wakefulness and fever.

James & Hana’s Summer Vacation: addendum

I’m somewhat behind on processing film… I develop fairly quickly, scan as soon as it’s dry enough (or within a day, anyway) but I’m well behind on getting those scans converted to positive and shared.

Oh well. The vacation was still a blessing, we still had a good time, and these pictures are still worth sharing, I guess. Continue reading “James & Hana’s Summer Vacation: addendum”

Unboxing ‘pomodori a grappolo’

I’m not quite sure what I can say about John Gossage‘s pomodori a grappolo. Professional photographers that I admire heap praise on Gossage’s work, on his seeing, so there must be something there, but after 4 trips through the 3, large books that make up pomodori a grappolo, I’m still not quite getting it.

the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful

In Surah Ali ‘Imran, Allah azza wa jall tells us:

And those who, when they commit an immorality or wrong themselves [by transgression], remember Allah and seek forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah ? – and [who] do not persist in what they have done while they know.

Those – their reward is forgiveness from their Lord and gardens beneath which rivers flow [in Paradise], wherein they will abide eternally; and excellent is the reward of the [righteous] workers.

Bergger Pancro 400 at 125

I’m awful at remembering to check settings on cameras before I start shooting. I’ve gotten a little bit better over the years, maybe, but I still lose it from time to time. For this year’s summer vacation, I took along some Bergger Pancro 400 in 35mm and 120. I managed to set the Olympus XA to 400 right after loading, but somehow forgot with the Yashica Mat-124.

Actually, it never even crossed my mind, and I didn’t realize it until I was almost headed home… Continue reading “Bergger Pancro 400 at 125”
