#CameraChallenge Expired

When #ExpiredFilmDay was (finally) announced, I got excited, and when the long weekend rolled around, I shot several rolls of fun stuff (Kodachrome, Ektachrome X, etc.). I’ll share some of those in the coming weeks.

Then, Jason Avery announced April’s #CameraChallenge was also Expired film… Shame on me, I played it relatively safe: 2007 expired Fuji Superia XTRA 400 and 2008 expired Kodak GC 400-8, both shot between 125 and 160. I have several rolls of long-expired slide film, and another roll of Kodachrome (which looks great in Ilfotec HC, by the way), so shame on me, I guess, but I spent the shoot week (March 25-31) in Arkansas and didn’t want to come home with nothing, so safe I played it

(Fashionably late to the) FP4 Party!

Well, this being the first full week of March (2019), it’s shoot week for the March edition of the FP4 Party, and I currently have a roll of 120 in the Cambo C2 holder, and am slowly shooting through it.

Two weeks ago, the third, and last, full week in February was post week for the February edition, and I just wasn’t feeling it. I didn’t develop a single roll of film in all of February… but I’m (sorta) past that now, maybe, and so here we go!

Enter the Action Sampler (clear)

The EmulsiveSanta 2018 gift exchange program found me gifting my chrome Action Sampler. My victim recipient asked for the clear one, and, shame on me, within minutes of dropping the gift in the mail, I went on the ‘bay and found a clear Action Sampler (in Toys ‘R’ Us packaging, with a roll of long expired, Ferrania-made, Lomo 800). And then my Emulsive Santa sent me a black and white (or maybe glow-in-the-dark) Action Sampler too…

So I went from 1 (chrome), to none, to 2 Action Samplers, all in the space of about 3 weeks…

1 Action Sampler is fun: cheap and cheerful, as they say. 2 Action Samplers is excessive.*

Oh Well.

I decided to try out the clear one first and carried it down to Mineral Wells, to the grocery store, and on walks with my darling, adorable wife with a roll of Lomography’s new Berlin Kino 400 film, just to see what would happen.

Mineral Wells, with the LC-A

More than a month ago, for 127 day, I took a trip out to Mineral Wells, with a whole bunch of cameras, for a morning of hiking and shooting. It was a good workout, and a good time!

Since then, I’ve felt a bit of malaise about photography, and I’ve taken a bit of a break. In an attempt to kickstart my interest, and put some fresh content on the blog, here, then, are some pictures from the new-to-me-and-still-in-testing LC-A
